- As of 2022, The festival has not happened since 2020 due to Covid concerns, the likelihood of future iterations is at this moment undetermined-

In 2010, the Kingman Island Bluegrass & Folk Festival was born from an effort to raise awareness of the island and its availability to people as a public park. That first year consisted of only one stage, a handful of acts, and was attended by several dozen people. Word spread of this homegrown festival right in the District's backyard and each year the event grew exponentially, now attracting an average of 8,000 guests annually with dozens of bands spread across multiple stages for eight hours of performances and delicious food, drinks, and activities for adults and children of all ages. The festival has become one of DC's most anticipated annual events drawing attendees from 47 states across the country.
