"We are queer-positive, feminist, anti-racist, and artist-friendly. We put out music and other stuff. We came out of DIY punk culture and we still believe in a DIY ethos. KRS was started in Olympia Washington in February of 1991 by Slim Moon. Tinuviel Sampson helped early on, as well as Tobi Vail, Maggie Vail, Brett Frost, and others. Portia Sabin ran the label from October 2006 to August 2019, when Slim returned and Portia stepped away to become President of Music Biz. Slim and Portia now live in Nashville; the rest of KRS is still in Portland and Southwest Washington.
