Nat Myers marked yet another milestone for his lauded debut album ‘Yellow Peril’ last night, bringing the collection’s songs and stories to his national television debut on PBS Newshour. In a wide-ranging and candid conversation, Myers spoke about growing up Korean-American in Northern Kentucky, how he developed an unexpected passion for the blues at a young age, the influence of classic poetry on his songwriting, what he learned busking in the New York City subway and why the pandemic’s dark wave of Asian prejudice inspired him to create ‘Yellow Peril.’ Watch Nat Myers on PBS Newshour here: https://www.pbs.org/newshour/show/musician-nat-myers-on-the-healing-power-of-the-blues

Myers’ national TV debut is just the latest reason to celebrate his undeniable breakout year around ‘Yellow Peril.’ Last month, Myers made history by taking the Grand Ole Opry stage for the first time; a lifelong dream captured in his just-released “My Opry Debut” video piece. Myers was also just named one of NPR Music’s Favorite New Musicians of 2023, praised for “drawing listeners into a sonic world that seamlessly fuses raw emotion with musical finesse.” At AmericanaFest last week, he spoke on a panel with other emerging Kentucky musicians about the present and future of the state’s musical legacy - and later performed on a high-profile tribute to Kentucky hero Loretta Lynn. Myers also teamed with the Recording Academy for an “emotional” (GRAMMY.com) live performance of his original “Ramble No More” from the new record, which you can watch here: https://www.grammy.com/videos/nat-myers-ramble-no-more-performance-press-play
Myers will continue to tour ‘Yellow Peril’ through the rest of 2023 and beyond - including his first-ever tour of Australia alongside Willie Watson in October, and November dates across the US with Nick Shoulders and Vincent Neil Emerson.
