Warner Chappell Music (WCM) has signed a global publishing deal with Jay Versace. The highly in-demand producer has been behind a string of recent hits for SZA – including her Grammy-nominated smash, "SOS," along with Doja Cat and Summer Walker.
On signing with WCM, Jay Versace said: "Huge thank you to Cate, Ryan, and the entire Warner Chappell team! I'm excited to start this new journey with such a wholesome team of people. And big thank you to Motisola and everyone who helped me get settled with the Warner team! Very honored to create amongst such talented and inspiring creatives."
WCM Sr. Director, AandR, Cate Wright, shared: "I'm beyond thrilled to welcome Jay Versace to the Warner Chappell family! With his innate instincts and unique approach, he's quickly become a sought-after hitmaker. It's no question that Jay is an incredible producer, but it's his ability to connect with artists, form lasting relationships, and cultivate projects that has led to hits with the likes of SZA, Doja Cat, and Summer Walker."
Based in Los Angeles, Jahlil Gunter, known professionally as Jay Versace, is a leading American record producer. A former internet personality and popular comedian, he amassed more than three million followers on the now defunct app Vine before he started making beats in 2018. Since then, he's worked with top artists and helped produce award-winning and culture-defining songs like "Safari" from Tyler, the Creator's Grammy Award-winning album Call Me When You Get Lost, "Lil Diamond Boy" by Lil Yachty, and "Versace" by Westside Gunn – which also marked Jay's first official producer credit.
More recently, Jay worked on three songs from Doja Cat's album Scarlet, which peaked in the top five on the Billboard 200: "Love Life," "97," and "Often." He also produced SZA's RIAA-certified gold singles "SOS" and "Smoking on my Ex Pack" from SOS, along with three songs on Summer Walker's CLEAR 2: SOFT LIFE EP – both of which are up for Grammys at the upcoming 66th Annual Awards.
