Today Dangerbird Records announces the launch of AKP Recordings, a new imprint consolidating the catalog of boundary-stretching experimental releases the stalwart LA indie label first began issuing in 2018. AKP Recordings’ inaugural offering comes from percussionist, beatmaker and illustrator John Herndon (of Chicago post-rock institution Tortoise) under his solo monniker A Grape Dope.
The new EP entitled Backyard Blenders: The Remixes features Four Tet, Roberto Carlos Lange (aka Helado Negro), Jeff Parker (of Tortoise) and Laetitia Sadier (of Stereolab) remixing tracks from A Grape Dope’s debut full-length album Arthur King Presents A Grape Dope: Backyard Bangers, released in August. The new Remix EP will be released on vinyl on April 9th, 2021 and is available for pre-order now.
