Boston-based bilingual singer-songwriter Alisa Amador has released her debut album Multitudes today via Thirty Tigers. The 12-song collection - written by Amador and co-produced by Amador with Tyler Chester and Daniel Radin - is a genre-blending tapestry of fervor, vulnerability, and sheer resilience. Featuring guest appearances from Gaby Moreno, Madison Cunningham, and fellow NPR Tiny Desk Contest winner Quinn Christopherson, Multitudes is a fierce work of discovery and affirmation, exploring a multitude of emotions - triumph and loss, grief and gratitude, endings and beginnings, identity and belonging.

“This album comprises the last 6 years of my life in songs. Three years of which I was living with grief, depression, and writer’s block,” says Amador. “When I won the NPR Tiny Desk Contest two years ago, I thought I may never write a song again, and that I may never be a professional musician again. Things really changed, didn’t they? I finished a record and now it is yours. To celebrate and to mourn. To scream and to find comfort. To dance and to slow down and be still. Multitudes is here for you. This music is for you.”

The Boston Globe says, “Swaying between English and Spanish, leisurely folk and swooning indie pop, Amador’s new material indeed spans “multitudes” — a title (and cognate) that Amador selected as a nod to the bilingual album’s depth." In No Depression’s album review, they write, “Multitudes encapsulates both the self-evident promise — and breathtaking vulnerability — that makes [Amador’s] music so entrancing.” NPR Music recently praised Amador’s “passion, deep warmth and charisma,” while Paste Magazine noted, “her vulnerability is her superpower.” Relix writes, “[Multitudes] conveys the pure resilience of her battled spirit, blending notes of her Latina background with folksy elements […] while offering a sizzling sense of nowness.”

From the tender album opener “Extraño” (featuring Gaby Moreno) to the album closer “Milonga accidental,” which is the first Spanish-language song to win the NPR Tiny Desk Contest, Amador’s “powerful voice whose tender performance commands attention and fosters connection” (NPR) effortlessly slips between English and Spanish. Throughout the record, Amador wrestles with the notion of belonging, blurring the lines between languages and genres in a reflection of her own personal search for self. The collection is not only a testament to how far Amador has come (she’s earned dates with everyone from Hozier and Brandi Carlile to Lake Street Dive and Hiss Golden Messenger), but also as a celebration of where she comes from (her roots span Puerto Rico, New Mexico, Argentina, and New England).
