NPR Tiny Desk winner Alisa Amador has unveiled two new singles from her forthcoming debut album Multitudes, out June 7 via Thirty Tigers - “Love Hate Song” and “Pasajeras.” The driving indie-rocker “Love Hate Song”(performed in English) grapples with a life full of catch-22s while the graceful “Pasajeras” (performed in Spanish) extends a helping hand in a time of struggle. The juxtaposition of the two singles is a fitting representation of the range contained within Multitudes. The album is a profound, revelatory meditation on triumph and loss, endings and beginnings, identity and belonging, all delivered by a songwriter convinced she would never write again.

The official music video for “Love Hate Song” - which Amador calls “refreshingly chaotic” - is out today. The Boston-based musician teamed up with local businesses (a brewery, a vintage shop, a record store, a pop-up wedding venue, and a wine bar) for this vibrant visual that inspires a cathartic release. “‘Love Hate Song’ is about those days when you can’t believe how absurd/stressful/paradoxical life is,” says Amador. As she sings in the chorus “that’s what life is sometimes… surrender to the madness!”

When Amador received a call from NPR’s Bob Boilen with the news that she had won the 2022 Tiny Desk Contest, she was preparing to walk away from her music career altogether. “I was burned out and dealing with all this personal grief and trauma, and I finally just came to the conclusion that I couldn’t go on the way I was anymore,” she reflects. “And then as I was walking through the logistics of how I would break the news to everyone in my life, I got a phone call that felt like an intervention from the universe.” She made history with the first-ever Spanish language song to win the contest. It was a life-changing curveball that ultimately took her career to new heights, including the making of her debut album and tour dates with everyone from Hozier and Brandi Carlile to Lake Street Dive and Maggie Rogers

Now, Amador emerges with her full-length debut, co-produced by multi-Grammy nominee Tyler Chester and Daniel Radin and featuring recent Grammy Award winners Gaby Moreno and Madison Cunningham, and Quinn Christopherson. The 12-song collection effortlessly moves between English and Spanish over top of lush synthesizers, dreamy guitars and cinematic string arrangements. Multitudes is fierce, raw, and vulnerable, laced with the hope and resilience of a young woman learning to find her voice and stand her ground. It’s a bold, captivating self-portrait that serves not only as a testament to how far Amador has come, but also as a celebration of where she comes from (her roots span Puerto Rico, New Mexico, Argentina, and New England).

Amador will perform across the US throughout 2024, with several festival slots and a headline tour TBA. Stay tuned for 2024 album release tour dates coming soon. For more information, please visit https://alisaamador.com/
