Last night, iconic Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli kicked off his three-day concert event, Andrea Bocelli 30: The Celebration, commemorating his 30th anniversary in music. The Teatro del Silenzio (Theater of Silence) in Bocelli’s hometown of Lajatico in the Tuscany region was a visual and auditory feast, featuring a meticulously crafted setlist, traversing Bocelli’s musical career with performances by Jon Batiste, Sofia Carson, Matteo Bocelli, Virginia Bocelli, Christian Nodal, Elisa, Tiziano Ferro, Aida Garifullina, Mariam Battistelli, Amos Bocelli, Franco Vasallo, and conductor Steven Mercurio.
The evening featured a myriad of highlights, including Bocelli and Jon Batiste’s deeply moving and captivating performance of “Amazing Grace.” Bocelli also dedicated a moment of the night to his family, first singing a duet of “Hallelujah,” with his daughter Virginia Bocelli, and then a beautiful performance of “Fall on Me,” with his rising crossover star son, Matteo. Bocelli also invited Sofia Carson to the stage for a performance of “Can't Help Falling In Love,” followed by a trio performance of “If I Knew” with Matteo Bocelli. The night ended with a stirring solo performance of Pavarotti’s “Nessun Dorma.”
The evening also included a surprise appearance from longtime fans, Kim andamp; Khloé Kardashian. Bocelli descended into the audience to present flower bouquets to the stars.
The Italian countryside will remain a celebration of music, memories, and milestones for two additional shows on Wednesday, July 17th, and Friday, July 19th. Still to come are performances by Ed Sheeran, Shania Twain, Russell Crowe, David Foster, Jose Carreras, Lang Lang, and many more.
