Today, Chase Bryant taps one of his musical heroes Randy Houser and renowned guitarist Joey Landreth (The Bros. Landreth) to go to “Shell and Back.” The tongue-in-cheek breakup anthem shares how Bryant mends a broken heart in an unlikely way: with a good gas station run.
“I wrote “Shell and Back” with the Warren Brothers, Lance Miller, and Erik Dylan at my dear friend’s ranch in the Texas Hill Country,” said Bryant. “From the top of the hill, just about the only light in sight was an old Shell gas station. Erik and I drove down there one evening to pick up some stuff. We started putting together the thought of this guy being left out there by a girl, and that being about the only place he could go. Also, where else could you get Chicken Enchiladas at a gas station besides Texas?”

“Shell and Back” is Bryant’s second preview of his upcoming EP fittingly inspired by his South Texas roots, Cayo del Grullo. Coming August 2nd, the project is named after his favorite place in the world, a part of Baffin Bay not far from his grandparents’ family farm where Bryant ended up moving and creating his first professional studio in their old pool house. With the help of his fellow Texan and friend Jon Randall and his longtime engineer Casey Wood, the EP was born in that very studio, capturing all the lifelong memories that Texas and the home brings. Listen to the EP’s first single “Where The Good Ones Go (feat. Jake Owen)” here.
Cayo del Grullo marks the third EP from Bryant this year. Each project is named after pivotal cities and moments in his life as a prolific creator, and this year he shared Summerville (released 1.19) and Ashland City (released 4.12). Stay tuned for more exciting announcements from Bryant this summer.
