This Friday, Cincinnati-based indie pop band Coastal Club will release their new EP, All of the Things You Said (pre-order). In anticipation of Friday’s release date, the EP is streaming in full at Cincy Music.  The EP arrives after acclaimed singles "lost my head," "conversation" and "cigarettes."

On the EP, the band's Alexandre Hirlinger says, “This project is a collection of songs formed through our existential toil over what it means to be a human being. Though many of the songs sound lighthearted and playful, upon further investigation the listener will find that many of these songs deal with heavier topics, including mental health, dissecting religion, and love-lost. Throughout this project, we attempted to add more depth and weight to our sound through blending lighthearted guitar riffs with more somber synth sounds, which created a truly diversified sonic palette."

Hirlinger adds, “The project is mostly an aural journal that, in writing, helped us make sense of why we choose to believe the things we were taught from a young age. However, peppered throughout the project, are songs that deal with finding love and resolution along the way.”

To celebrate the release, the band has a record release show coming on on August 2 at the Woodward Theater. Tickets for the show are available HERE.

Within the lyrical atmosphere of Coastal Club's latest song, "lost my head," lies an exploration of the tumultuous terrain of the mind. The band paints a vivid portrait of the inner turmoil that accompanies the experience of having your reality distorted by others, where the very ground beneath your feet seems to shift with each passing moment. Through brooding melodies and a driving rhythm, they capture the disorienting feeling of questioning your own sanity in the face of relentless manipulation.

On the song, the band's Alexandre Hirlinger says, "We're inviting listeners on a cathartic journey through the depths of the psyche. 'lost my head' is more than just a song — it's a beacon of solidarity for those who have felt the dizzying effects of having their reality manipulated by others and a testament to the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity."

The band’s signature sound, characterized by infectious guitar-driven hooks and uplifting, high-spirited anthems, has garnered them widespread acclaim within the indie pop scene. Coastal Club is drummer David McGuire, lead guitarist and vocalist Avery Benter, and lead singer and guitarist Alexandre Hirlinger, the band draws inspiration from influences like Young the Giant and COIN, infusing their music with a refreshing sense of optimism and joy.

The upcoming EP, All of the Things You Said, showcases Coastal Club's evolution as artists. While staying true to their indie-pop roots, the band has ventured into deeper thematic territory, exploring topics such as mental health, dissecting religion, and love lost. Through a blend of lighthearted guitar riffs and somber synth sounds, Coastal Club crafts a sonic palette that is both diversified and compelling.

The EP's lead single “cigarettes," is followed by the poignant single “conversation," which invites listeners to dance upon waves of surfy, indie-rock euphoria while grappling with weighty themes of faith and disillusionment. The album's remaining tracks navigate the tonal contrast between these two singles, offering listeners an aural journey through the band's introspective exploration of their religious upbringing and personal growth.

The remaining tracks featured on All Of The Things you said fall somewhere in between the tonal contrast laid out between these two singles. The project is mostly an aural journal that, in writing, helped the band make sense of their religious upbringing, and why we chose to believe the things we were taught from a young age. However, peppered throughout the project, are songs that deal with finding love and resolution along the way.
