Today, East Forest — the famed ambient/electro-acoustic musician who has collaborated with Jon Hopkins, Nick Mulvey, Laraaji, DJ Anna, and Ram Dass — will release “Patience,” the latest single from his forthcoming record Music For The Deck Of The Titanic (out August 18th).

On Titanic, East Forest returned to songwriting with limited elements, utilizing an austere palette of live drums, upright bass, acoustic piano, and voice to reduce the space between himself and the music. Sometimes going back to the basics is a safe move, but in this case, the intensity of the minimalist recording process allowed for heightened vulnerability in East Forest’s songwriting.

To date, East Forest hasn’t released anything this stripped down, just vocals and piano — “Patience” is a rare moment of openness, relishing in longing, hope, despair to proffer a moment of pure tenderness. Says East Forest “A track like Patience feels as if I’m putting myself out there in a way that initially feels uncomfortable, but deep down I long for the same thing I think a lot of us do, which is witnessing and being a part of moments that are simple and real.”

The first track off Titanic“Cosmic Dance,” was praised by Paste for “living up to its name, as the celestial vocalizations tenderly stretch the space of the digital, airy arrangements East Forest provides. Soulful, fresh and memorable.”

East Forest just performed a slew of special Ceremony Concert live shows at Bottlerock Festival, Psychedelic Science alongside Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, and a Los Angeles Event with Floating/Reflections. Equal parts concert and ritual, East Forest’s Ceremony Concert merges live music and guided meditation to empower attendees, create space for inner awareness, and foster emotional release — all to provide an “embodied experience,” as East Forest tells Rolling Stone

More Ceremony dates, including an NYC show, are soon to be announced.
