Ukrainian frontman Eugene Hütz, of international punk band Gogol Bordello, today announced the re-launch of his label Casa Gogol Records. With an ear to the ground and deeply rooted in the new New York scene, Casa Gogol is set to release a stream of thrilling work showcasing the sound of a new New York as well as collaborations with legends of the punk, rock and hardcore scene.
Casa Gogol is set to release a Gogol Bordello collaboration cover of Angelic Upstarts’ “Solidarity” with Bernard Sumner of Joy Division and New Order. This tribute to the punk and anti-Soviet movement will benefit Ukraine and stand in solidarity with oppressed groups worldwide. Hütz shared, “This is a particularly meaningful collaboration for us. To do this tribute with one of the most masterful and brilliant pioneers, Bernard Sumner, is truly epic and timely.”
Punk girl duo Puzzled Panther - joined by Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Brian Chase and Eugene Hütz - will release their debut EP on the imprint in early 2024. Following “Fake Ass Freedom Fighters,” upcoming single “Smoke andamp; Mirrors We Broke” is out December 2 - produced by post-punk legend Nick Launay (Nick Cave, Amyl and the Sniffers, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Idles). Other releases will include hypnotic singer-songwriter Grace Bergere and beyond.
“Youth culture is always producing new brilliant music, and you just pray that you are there when it happens.” says Hütz, “As different as Puzzled Panther and Grace Bergere are, they have the right kind of newness and right kind of oldness about them. They arrived into this world as poets with a singular vision and superb knack for melodism. To me they are the new New York, which has a lot more in common with that magical old New York we know, and none of that bullshit in the middle.”
Fresh off a UK Tour this December with support from Peat andamp; Diesel, Gogol Bordello will return to the heart of their New York roots with five back-to-back New Year’s Eve shows at Brooklyn Bowl, kicking off with night one in Philadelphia. As an extension of Casa Gogol Records, Gogol Bordello’s New Year’s Eve lineup will be packed with New York legends and introducing emerging New York artists Puzzled Panther and Grace Bergere from Casa Gogol. Brooklyn Bowl Philadelphia show is on December 27, followed by Brooklyn Bowl New York’s run December 28-31. Tickets are on sale now.

Casa Gogol first started as a touring series curated by Hütz, focusing on bringing like-minded artists on the road with Gogol Bordello. These uncompromisingly innovative musicians have included A Tribe Called Red (now The Halluci Nation), Mariachi El Bronx and experimental rock band Man Man amongst countless others. Hütz’s inimitable knack for tastemaking and building musical community has led him to be known not only as Gogol Bordello’s frontman but a reputable DJ, collaborator, producer and also as a curator on festivals like Bonnaroo. Naturally, Casa Gogol became Hütz’s imprint label, focusing on joint releases and collaborations with the likes of Primus, Jello Biafra and more.
This year saw Gogol Bordello release collaborative benefit song “United Strike Back” to raise funds and support for Ukrainian soldiers, featuring Tre Cool (Green Day), Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedys), Joe Lally (Fugazi, The Messthetics), Roger Miret (Agnostic Front), Monte Pittman (Ministry), Sasha (Kazka) and Puzzled Panther.
Earlier in June, Vice documentary Scream of My Blood: A Gogol Bordello Storypremiered at Tribeca Film Festival, leaving with a Special Jury Mention for Best New Documentary Director Award and praise like “Hütz’s story is fascinating and triumphant. Scream of My Blood’ remains essential.” (Variety). The film has also been shown at the Warsaw Film Festival (Audience Award for Documentary Feature), Centre Film Festival (Audience Award), SXSW Sydney, In-Edit International Music Documentary Film Festival and more - including screenings in Burlington, Vermont where Eugene’s story in the United States began.
