The Los Angeles Folk Festival—produced in partnership with Grammy nominated duo The Milk Carton Kids and the Los Angeles Philharmonic (LA Phil)—will debut at The Ford in Los Angeles October 7-8. The Milk Carton Kids will headline the festival alongside critically acclaimed artists Waxahatchee, Sierra FerrellValerie JuneDavíd Garza andamp; FreaklóricoHaley Heynderickx, Tré BurtWillie Watson and a number of very special guests.

Tickets are available for pre-sale now and are on sale to the general public May 9 HERE.

With the festival, the band aims to bring a proper folk festival to their hometown and draw a line connecting the folk community from the collaborative Laurel Canyon scene of the 1960’s to the community of musicians and comedians working today at venues like L.A.’s Largo.

The Milk Carton Kids band members Kenneth Pattengale and Joey Ryan explain:

For more than a decade, participating in Folk festivals around the world has been far and away the most enriching and meaningful part of our careers. We've come to believe in the modern folk festival as one of the most powerful tools for bringing a community together. So, for many years now we’ve been dreaming of bringing a Folk festival to our hometown of Los Angeles, one of the epicenters of Folk music. The tradition of Folk music in LA — from Woody Guthrie’s radio days in the late 1930s, to the famously collaborative Laurel Canyon of the 1960’s, to the alchemic community of musicians and comedians working here today — far exceeds the capacity of any event to properly capture. This year’s Los Angeles Folk Festival is our attempt to present a vibrant snapshot of a national Folk scene that draws deeply from its LA roots. We hope it can grow into something that represents our rich and evolving community, see you there!

The festival comes on the heels of the band’s forthcoming record I Only See The Moon, due May 19 via Far Cry Records in partnership with Thirty Tigers. Pre-order/pre-save the album HERE. The group recently debuted the album tracks “All Of The Time In The World To Kill,” “When You’re Gone,” “Running on Sweet Smile,” “Star Shine” and “North Country Ride,” their first new music since their acclaimed 2019 album The Only Ones.
