Today, Kaufman Music Center announces three performances with The Rock and Roll Playhouse, the largest national concert series for families where kids can “move, play and sing while listening to works from the classic-rock canon” (New York Times). Featuring the music of The Beatles, Taylor Swift, and David Bowie for kids, this concert series promises to provide an enriching opportunity for children and parents to experience the music they love together, in a joyful environment, and have fun during the coldest months in New York City.

Aside from exploring their creativity while dancing to live music from curated local bands, attendees can expect complimentary healthy and delicious snacks from Daily Crunch and Lesser Evil, interactive activities for play, stories, and the opportunity to rock out. This event is ideal for kids between the ages one to seven.

Kaufman Music Center is a not-for-profit organization that is home to a K-12 public school that teaches music as the core subject, Manhattan’s largest community arts school, and Merkin Hall, an intimate 450-seat concert venue that presents some of today’s most captivating musicians.

Dianna Meison-Jackson, Senior Director of Marketing and Communications at Kaufman Music Center said, “We are thrilled to bring The Rock and Roll Playhouse to Kaufman Music Center, where families can experience the magic of live rock music by some of the most iconic musicians in a fun and interactive way. This partnership combines our passion for making music accessible, while also creating an unforgettable experience for children and parents alike in a dynamic and welcoming environment.

Founded by Brooklyn Bowl owner and live music entrepreneur Peter Shapiro and led by Senior Director Stephen Grybowski, The Rock and Roll Playhouse will celebrate their 10 year anniversary this year. Within this first decade, the playhouse has performed over 1,500 shows in over 80 venues and over 25 states and counting. They’ve also recently announced a multi-album record deal with Republic Records Kids andamp; Family Division (read more in Variety). The albums cover beloved classic rock songs, celebrating the music of The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Grateful Dead, Aretha Franklin, David Bowie, Prince, Queen, Tom Petty and more, as well as some original tunes. Listen to their albums School Rocks!Love Rocks! and Friends Rock! out now.
