Marketing Coordinator – Contract: The Opportunity
We are looking for a talented self-starter to join our marketing team as a Marketing Coordinator, supporting our day-to-day marketing operations.
The successful candidate will be a digital marketer with a strong understanding of the music industry and social media trends. The primary focus of this role will be helping our marketing team adapt high-level strategies into social media content (including short-form video) and tracking Merlin member and partner news, with additional marketing projects assigned as needed.
POSITION STATUS, LOCATION, AND REPORTING
This is a contract role based in the United States (preferably New York) and reporting to our Marketing team leads. This role will work approximately 30 hours per week.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Generating social media and web content from high-level marketing strategies, including both asset design and copywriting for a variety of platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Website)
- Taking ownership in developing our presence on TikTok and YouTube Shorts
- Tracking social media analytics in Airtable for team review
- Assist in monitoring and tracking Merlin member and partner news (award nominations, key signings, sustainability initiatives, new features, etc.)
- Helping to maintain Merlin’s brand style and voice across a range of marketing materials.
- Organizing Merlin’s marketing assets and collection of member and partner assets
- Supporting the marketing team on a variety of one-off projects
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Ability to create content for social media and our website (including both design-based and video-based assets) using tools such as Canva, Photoshop, InDesign, and/or Illustrator.
- Comfortable working in a fast paced environment requiring both great attention to detail and working across multiple projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills with a disciplined adherence to commercial awareness and confidentiality.
- Must be a team player willing to ask questions, take ownership of their responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working with music labels, distributors, artist services companies, music rights organizations, or digital music companies in a similar capacity (internships included).
- Working knowledge of the music industry and social media trends.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE
- An understanding and passion for the independent music sector.
- Proficiency with Airtable, G Suite, Hootsuite, and Meta Business Suite.
Compensation
The hourly range for this position is $25-$40 an hour, commensurate with the role and the relevant experience of the final hire.
