Today, emerging country singer-songwriter, Owen Riegling, releases his new single and accompanying visualizer for “Weekend You” via Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company. Showcasing the newcomer’s heartfelt relatable lyrics drawn from personal experiences and the expertise of renowned producer Brad Hill (Maren Morris, Brothers Osborne), who elevates Riegling’s captivating vocals and guitar riffs, the song offers a glimpse into the challenges of love from afar.

“My girlfriend and I spent years doing the medium distance relationship thing, I was living back at home in Mildmay, she was living in Hamilton, and over those years I got to know the Weekend Her. I fell in love with the Weekend Her but one day I was sitting there on a Wednesday afternoon thinking the myself ‘what the hell is this girl doing right now?’, and eventually was so curious I had to write a song about it.

And that’s the way life is for so many folks nowadays who’re going off to school or going out to find the thing they’re looking for, and often it means you’re doing the long-distance thing, or the medium distance thing until you eventually get to do life together 7 days a week. Thankfully not that long ago my gal and I moved in together and I’ve gotten to fall in love with the Weekday Her too.”

After winning the 2022 Emerging Artists Showcase at the Canadian country music mega-fest Boots andamp; Hearts, Riegling signed his record deal with Universal Music Canada.  Prior to “Weekend You”, the singer-songwriter released “Old Dirt Roads” and the upbeat debut single “Love (The Sweater Song)”. The debut single has been steadily climbing charts and is now top 30 at Canadian Country Radio and is over 1.7 million global streams.

Selected as iHeart Pure Country’s Future Star and Rogers Radio One To Watch for August to playlist cover support on Today’s Country, Just North of Nashville, and NMF Billboard placement, it is clear Riegling is maintaining his unstoppable pace and ready to make his mark on the music industry.

Earlier this year, a live performance at the 2023 CMAOntario awards where he was nominated for the Rising Star followed by opening act for Tim Hicks at Boots andamp; Hearts festival, one of Canada’s largest country music festivals. The emerging star closed out Summer performing at the 2023 CCMA House amongst some of country music superstars including The War and Treaty, Dalton Dover and more. Riegling hits the road this fall as support for Platinum-award singer/songwriter, Tyler Hubbard and 6 dates with Canadian hit-maker, Robyn Ottolini. Tickets and full list of dates available here.
