Today, electronic master and multi-hyphenate talent Roosevelt releases “Ordinary Love”, a glimpse at the euphoric yet tentative first steps of a new romance. Sirens announce the new track introducing layered synths and a grooving interplay between guitar, percussion and bassline. It’s classic Roosevelt, effortlessly swirling together a near-symphonic level of musical parts with his breezy vocal delivery to create something that is somehow both soothing and irresistibly danceable. It’s his first release after recently signing with new label Counter Records/Ninja Tune.

Roosevelt (the stage name of Marius Lauber) also announces his biggest North American Tour to date headlining 35+ dates including New York, Los Angeles,, San Francisco, Denver, Chicago, Atlanta, Toronto and more. Full dates below. Pulling from his diverse catalog and inspired by his own experiences DJing, he said the tour will “have more transitions and feel more fluid than ever before. To me it's about telling the story of how my sound comes together, not just by presenting it in its full effect, but also by repeatedly dissecting and reassembling its multiple elements.”

Of “Ordinary Love”, Roosevelt said that it was “written in LA last summer in an isolated cabin in Elysian Heights. I worked on a demo that I initially called 'Wall Of Sound', putting a ton of synth layers together – I wanted to create some kind of urgency, that resembles the euphoria of a new love, with all its bliss, but also the uncertainty that comes with it. The idea of the sound of the sirens, that are played on a vintage Prophet 5, came when I wanted to create an underlying feeling of instability. It worked out as a great contrast to the melodic chords, as there's always a slight disharmony going on throughout the track.”

He added that “It's a huge honor to be releasing on Ninja Tune, which always has been a favorite of mine. It felt like a no-brainer to me - a lot of other artists and producers that I know and am a fan of are working with the label and their crossover approach on Counter between the pop and electronic world feels like a great fit for my project.”

It’s going to be an exciting 2023 for the German electronic maestro, following past high-profile collaborations with Nile Rodgers, Classixx and Washed Out, and major remixes for the likes of Taylor Swift, CHVRCHES, Glass Animals, and Charlotte Gainsbourg. His last full-length album ‘Polydans’ earned widespread acclaim from press, with Billboard saying it “balances 80s-inspired synth, disco, driving beats and cinematic textures into a musical amalgamation that simultaneously manages effervescence and heft,” with Pitchfork adding “ Lauber’s music evokes an earnest sweetness, forming crisp melodies around his smooth vocals.”
