GRAMMY®, BRIT, Golden Globe and Academy Award winning artist Sam Smith shares a brand new rendition of their 2x Platinum-certified single ‘Like I Can’ featuring Spanish pop star Aitana.
Celebrating a decade since the release of their multi-platinum debut ‘In the Lonely Hour’, Sam wanted to create a special rendition of the hit from their introductory album to dedicate to his Spanish fans. When speaking about the collaboration Sam said, “I have always been enamoured with the dedication my Spanish fans have shown me, and wanted to make a new version of Like I Can for Spanish speaking fans across the globe. Both Aitana and I performed at the same festival this year in Mexico, and while I wasn’t able to see her show, I heard all about it and reached out to her to see if she would be interested in participating in the project! I am grateful that one of this generation’s leading new stars gave such an incredible performance on the track, and can’t wait for my Spanish Sailors to hear it”.
Aitana said that “Collaborating with Sam has been a real dream come true. Being able to collaborate and contribute my bit to a project as beautiful and special as this has been very special and I am very grateful for it. Sam is an artist I admire very much.”
Released in 2014 ‘In the Lonely Hour’ was Sam’s debut into the music industry and the first of many incredible milestones and global successes that they would achieve over the course of their standout career. The GRAMMY® award winning, now 6 x RIAA Platinum Certified album became the biggest selling debut album of the decade. The album includes the breakthrough hit “Stay with Me” (certified Diamond by the RIAA in 2020), “I’m Not the Only One” (7xPlatinum), “Lay Me Down” (5xPlatinum) and the Platinum-certified “Money on My Mind” and “Like I Can.”
Sam is also the host of ‘The Pink House’, an overarching new brand Sam has created, inspired by the home they grew up in. Under the roof of ‘The Pink House’ they are in the process of building a charitable foundation intended to provide support for people within the LGBTQIA+ community. In addition to this, they have released multiple episodes of their podcast, where in each we hear from Sam as they sit down with an amazing cast of friends and queer cultural icons, including Elliot Page, Laverne Cox, Gloria Estefan. ‘The Pink House’ in all its guises is designed to help build a better, safer world for all.
Sam Smith is one of the most celebrated musical artists to emerge in recent history.
