Today, pop songwriter ROSIE announces her new EP 5 Songs for Healing out June 23rd via Arista Records.
To accompany the EP announcement, the makeup-less role model has released a new single, “Potential,” a track that came to ROSIE during a session with her therapist. The song takes surprising tempo and timbral changes during ROSIE’s own lyrical realizations: “When I fell I thought you were special // but I fell for your potential.”
“‘Potential’ is the last track I wrote for this EP,” ROSIE says. “It is about seeing the best in someone even when you shouldn’t, and recognizing the consequences of having a big heart. As painful as it is to walk away from someone you love, you know deep down it would be more painful to stay. Creating this song healed me in so many ways, I learned so much about myself, and I hope it has the same effect on everyone who hears it!”
Wanting to convey the contrast of loving the idea of someone versus loving who they really are, ROSIE turned to classic black and white films like Casablanca and Some Like It Hot for inspiration. She explains of the mix between BandW and color shots: “I really wanted the viewer to see and feel the difference between those shots and the “reality” shots”.
Every detail of 5 Songs for Healing reflects ROSIE’s emotional evolution: from the visuals to her vocal style to the stacked production, ROSIE is breaking through the fragility that characterized her initial sound and is finding her voice. With every song ROSIE writes, she patches her heartbreak and inspires listeners to do the same. Following Rosie’s “you” focused 2021 debut EP, 20mg of Happiness, 5 Songs for Healing instead reflects on herself, and how she feels, not how someone made her feel.
“5 Songs For Healing is all about finding myself,” ROSIE says. “It captures the good, the bad, the pain, and the beauty that comes with heartbreak, growth, and ultimately healing.”
Leading up to the EP release, ROSIE will embark on an 11-date US tour this June where she will be selling exclusive merch.
