Today, GRAMMY-winning rock group Switchfoot has teamed with four-time GRAMMY-nominated singer/songwriter Ingrid Andress to release a reimagined version of Switchfoot’s 2003 track “On Fire.”

This new rendition will be included on ‘The Beautiful Letdown (Our Version) [Deluxe Edition],’ a recently announced 25-track celebration of 2003’s breakthrough album ‘The Beautiful Letdown’ featuring new recordings by The Jonas Brothers, OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder, Jon Bellion, Dayglow, Twenty One Pilots’ Tyler Joseph + more.

One of the brightest stars in contemporary country music, Andress and longtime co-producer and collaborator Sam Ellis’ reimagined “On Fire” adopts an almost inspirational tone that contrasts Switchfoot’s lovelorn original. On top of a steady rhythmic backing complete with acoustic guitar and a subtle plucked banjo, Andress declares: “And I'm on fire when you're near me / And I'm on fire when you speak / Yeah, I'm on fire burning at these mysteries.” It’s a proud declaration of love and yearning, and yet another example of the enduring influence of Switchfoot’s timeless songwriting.

Speaking about the track, Switchfoot’s Jon Foreman noted: “Ingrid has a voice that transcends genre. I first heard it on the stereo in a coffee shop in Charleston. Perfect for an afternoon at home, or a long late night drive- Ingrid has is a rare combination of beauty and depth. It’s the voice that accompanies a soul that has lived more than just a charmed life. I believe her when she’s singing. One day, one of Ingrid’s tunes came up on the playlist and we found out that a friend of ours was on tour with Ingrid. So we decided to reach out. A few days later when we were chatting on the phone- she joked that she nearly fell off the bed when she first got the invite. We feel the same way! So thankful to have Ingrid’s voice on this track!”

Ingrid Andress added: “I am so honored and excited to be a part of this The Beautiful Letdown anniversary celebration album. I used to sing “On Fire” all the time as a teenager and always thought it was so beautiful, so the fact that Jon asked me to join him and the band on this record is beyond special to me.”

The release of “On Fire (Ingrid Andress Version)” follows the release of lead single “Meant To Live (Jon Bellion Version,)” a radical reimagining of Switchfoot’s hard-rocking 2003 hit. Accompanied by a heart-wrenching video that dissects the complicated father/son relationship, Jon Bellion’s new version of “Meant To Live” trades the heavy riffing guitars of the original for a lush string arrangement by legendary arranger John Metcalfe (Coldplay, Blur, Peter Gabriel).

Switchfoot will kick off their massive 30+ date tour of North America at the tail end of Summer. The run of shows sees the band performing ‘The Beautiful Letdown’ from front to back in its entirety in major markets like Chicago, Boston, Orlando, Detroit, Seattle, Los Angeles and more. Numerous shows on the tour are already sold out or have very few tickets remaining such as The Wiltern in Los Angeles, CA, The Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN, House of Blues in Chicago, IL, and The Bluestone in Columbus, OH.
