Today, celebrated duo The Watson Twins (Chandra and Leigh Watson) release their feel good anthem “Holler,” the title track from their new album HOLLER (out June 23rd on Bloodshot Records). Watch the “Holler” video HERE. “Holler” follows previous singles “Never Be Another You” and “The Palace.” Listen to all the tracks via DSPs and pre-order HOLLER HERE.
“Holler” starts the album on a high note encapsulating the overall vibe of this new release, showcasing the Twins and their signature harmonies while taking the music to a whole new level. Holler isn’t a place, it’s a sound. The infectious energy of the music and lyrics asks the listener to “Holler if you hear me”. With its bar room piano solo and anthemic slide guitar, the track creates a high powered energy, making it the perfect song to sing all summer long.
Both “Holler” and the album as a whole celebrate collaboration, with both producer Butch Walker and the sisters themselves. For most of their career, The Watson Twins had written songs separately, creating their own compositions while still emphasizing vocal harmony. That evolution to joining writing forces began with their 2018 release DUO, with Rolling Stone praising the record’s “swooning, vintage-friendly grace.” HOLLER continues that partnership, with occasional co-writes from the likes of Brian Elmquist (The Lone Bellow) and producer Jacob Sooter. The sisters even sing every line together, alternating between gorgeous harmonies and unison melodies, and their songwriting has never sounded so sharp.
After wrapping dates with The Lone Bellow and The Heartless Bastards, The Watson Twins set out on a headline tour kicking off June 21 in Charlotte, NC. Dates are below and on their website.
The Watson Twins have been earning raves since their 2006 collaboration with indie songstress Jenny Lewis, Rabbit Fur Coat. They have also performed as back-up vocalists for some of music’s most notable acts, including Margo Price, Kings of Leon, Vanessa Carlton, CeeLo Green, Foster The People, The Shins, My Morning Jacket, Shooter Jennings, Billy Bragg, Willie Nelson and many more. Paste claimed, “The twin sisters have a sense of harmony that has gone unmatched and a growing reputation as the artists to call when you need perfect voices behind you.”
HOLLER is The Watson Twins seventh studio album.
