In addition to its catalog, WCPM produces custom music for TV, film, advertising, documentaries, promos and trailers, having composed works for various projects for ESPN, Disney, ABC, Paramount, Fox, NBC and Netlifx to name a few. WCPM is the leading provider for music to local news stations across the U.S. and the recipient of many awards including Emmys, Tellys, Addys and Promax awards.
JOB TITLE: MUSIC MANAGEMENT COORDINATOR
A little bit about our team:
As a primarily online business, WCPM depends heavily on the continuity and accuracy of the metadata attached to its 200,000+ discreet music titles. This position is integral in ensuring our taxonomy remains up to date and comprehensive and that our music is tagged correctly and consistently. We are requesting a fluent bi-lingual English/Spanish speaker to further help improve the metadata that requires translation. WCPM releases an average of 40 to 60 albums a month. This position will also work closely with the Post Production team to ensure accurate and thorough collection of assets in preparation for a segment of WCPM’s bi-weekly releases.
This position is located in Hollywood at WCPM’s state-of-the-art recording studio and reports directly to the Head of Production. Primary responsibilities include providing QC and metadata continuity for the 90+ WCPM catalogs, coordinating the updating of metadata for WCPM’s catalogs and acting as liaison for external metadata providers to maintain consistent workflow. You will also coordinate with asset management vendors and the in-house Supply Chain team for various batch processing initiatives for WCPM metadata. In addition, you will work with external bands and performing artists, internal and external producers and the Post Production and Marketing teams to collect and QC art, audio and metadata for albums released by WCPM’s various co-venture labels onto both the WCPM site and DSPs.
If you are Spanish/English bi-lingual, detail-oriented, a self-starter, have excellent writing skills and have familiarity with a wide expanse of musical genres (including Latin), this position provides an excellent opportunity to learn and grow within the production music industry. You must be a team player.
YOUR ROLE
- Provide QC for administrative metadata (master ownership/administration, copyright ownership/administration, version, etc.) for all incoming WCPM production music assets worldwide
- Provide QC for functional creative metadata (including Genre, Sub-Genre, Style, Mood, Tempo, Lead Instrumentation, Key, BPM, etc.) to all WCPM music assets worldwide to ensure users have excellent search results on our various sites
- Assist Project Manager in maintaining workflow and establishing/overseeing schedules with external metadata providers
- Assist Project Manager and tech team with various large-format initiatives involving high volume batch corrections
- Assist admin team with PRO and copyright research as needed
- Gather and QC assets (art, audio and metadata) from producers, composers, bands and performing artists for various label releases on an ongoing basis
- Handle meeting scheduling, travel and expense reports for Head of Production
- Assist with Spanish-to-English translations for metadata and promo copy as needed
- Assist marketing and operations as needed with metadata for DSP delivery as needed
- Assist team with exploring new techniques, tools and approaches to metadata imcluding AI automation
- Assist Supply Chain team with reviewing and testing search platforms for metadata effectiveness and formulating ideal mapping structures
- Manage very high work volume and maintain 100?curacy in data entry
- Create album and track titles as required
- Occasionally assist Music Creative team with the creation of various playlists in response to client search requests as needed
- Provide ongoing research sourcing from users’ most frequently occurring search terms, competitive market analysis and general industry and music trends to keep WCPM taxonomy relevant and current
- Work with our affiliate offices (Germany, UK, France, Brazil, Benelux) to ensure both regional and global tagging requirements are met
- Work with tech team to batch process audiofiles via AlterYX as necessary
- Collaborate with our Supply Chain team to improve the tools andamp; processes related to our asset management andamp; delivery systems.
HERE YOU’LL GET TO
- Must be Spanish/English bi-lingual
- Must have excellent spelling, grammar and creative writing skills
- Must have experience or knowledge of both creative and administrative metadata tagging
- Must have knowledge of music business fundamentals including publishing and global PRO structure
- Must have extensive familiarity with a wide expanse of music genres (from retro genres, orchestral, classical, contemporary underscore to hip hop, pop, Latin, rock and folk)
- Must have basic understanding of music production, particularly post-production (mixing, mastering, audio prep, etc.)
- Must be extremely detail oriented with demonstrated experience in proofing
- Must be proficient with Excel and Box.com
- Must be a team player with experience navigating sensitive dynamics when working with creative individuals including producers and composers
- Must have top-notch written and oral communication skills
- Must be resourceful and proactive in foreseeing general needs of the team
- Must have good organizational skills
- Must be a self-starter, self-motivated and take responsibility/ownership of tasks
- Must be a team player who values communication, sharing ideas and respecting colleagues in a positive environment
- Must be able to work autonomously as needed
- Must be trusted to handle and safeguard confidential and proprietary information

- Familiarity with Pro Tools, AlterYX
- Familiarity with graphics software (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.)
- Familiarity with cue sheets
- Music supervision experience
- Musical experience (singing, composing, playing an instrument)
- Diplomatic skills with regard to dealing with people from various disciplines including creative, technical and executive
