Today, Wild Nothing — the beloved Captured Tracks mainstay headed by Jack Tatum —shares new album Hold (out October 27), Wild Nothing’s first LP in five years, and Tatum’s first self-produced record since his 2010 debut (Gemini).
A glorious capture of finding the space to grow during quieter moments, Hold melds the 80’s influences of Wild Nothing past with a spread of new electronica influences, reshaping the LP’s undercurrent of anxiety into a package that encourages meditation, levity, and moments of exhilaration. Deemed an “excellent comeback cut” by KCRW, and an “exciting new chapter in Tatum’s career” by FLOOD, Hold has been praised by UPROXX, Pitchfork, the Creative Independent, Stereogum, NPR, and more for its “euphoric, club-centric music that sparks memories of better days and provides hope for the future” (FADER).
Celebrating the lengths Jack Tatum has come since his debut and as an acclaimed songwriter for Japanese Breakfast’s GRAMMY Winning Jubilee and Molly Burch’s 2021 LP release, Hold features members from Wild Nothing’s ever growing musical community: mixing by Geoff Swan (Caroline Polachek, Charli XCX), contributions from Hatchie, Molly Burch, Becca Mancari, Tommy Davidson of Beach Fossils, Hatchie, and his wife, Dana.

Today’s focus track, “Prima”, is an ambitious ode to taking advantage of what you have before it’s lost. Open and earnest, the track pays homage to the more delicate moments of Charli XCX, the open-armed earnestness of Peter Gabriel, and the big tent sound of 80’s pop acts. Listen to lead single “Headlights On (ft. Hatchie)”, the “a throwback disco-pop gem” (FLOOD) that “tips listeners off to Tatum’s new electronic influences,” “Suburban Solutions”, an anti jingle brimming with “shimmery synthpop” (Stereogum) that sells sweet oblivion in the form of self improvement, or “Dial Tone,” an anthem for love on the road that would be right at home amidst the art-rock of Roxy Music (if not for the nods to cyber romance).
Tatum has also shared an exclusive launch with Osmote Wines — a natural winery located in NY’s Finger Lakes terroir — who will release a special “Suburban Solutions” Riesling (and in the UK, Blackbook Winery will produce the bottle for lead single “Headlights On”). The wine will be bundled with the LP on milky clear andamp; black split vinyl. Order wine and vinyl bundles HERE, and all other physical products HERE.
Wild Nothing will be on tour this November to celebrate the release of Hold, including an NYC show at Music Hall Of Williamsburg and an LA set at the Fonda Theatre – full dates below, with JW Francis and Zzzahara as support. Tickets on sale HERE.
