World-famous guitarist and guitar instructor Tom Hess has released an online resource sharing secrets to lead guitar creativity for the guitar playing community to help them make any lick instantly sound better.
Hess says: "You don't need to play an as fast as possible to make it sound great. Yes, playing with speed is cool, but there are many more creative options available to help you play killer sounding licks without needing to play fast."
Hess goes on to explain each of his creative approaches in detail. He states: "One of the easiest ways to make a lick sound boring is to play the entire scale pattern up and down, over and over... This gets old very quick. Instead, one should focus o how notes are played more than just the notes they choose."
Hess also discusses adding harmony to make licks sound more interesting: "By harmonizing the notes of your licks with double stops, they instantly become awesome. This is very easy and fun to do. Simply go through a lick you have mastered and fine various points where you can add double stops in. Experiment by creating many variations of the lick to improve your creativity."
In Hess's resource, he reveals how to make any guitar lick sound better in a video. Many creative guitar concepts are expressed very concisely and are easy to pick up and apply for any guitar player seeking to improve his or her chops.
Hess's online resource about lead guitar can be found on his website along with various other instructional materials for guitarists.
