Today, YG Entertainment’s rising K-Pop group, BABYMONSTER, announced their long awaited debut album, DRIP, out November 1. The full-length album will include seven new tracks, including the title track which was composed by the legendary rapper and singer-songwriter, G-Dragon, as well as a new remix of their record-breaking debut single, “BATTER UP,” and their most recent single, “FOREVER.” You can pre-order the album HERE.
BABYMONSTER is the first girl group to launch under the K-pop label, YG, since BLACKPINK and they've already been widely recognized across the globe as one to watch - they were recently named Billboard's K-Pop Rookie of the Month and were also named one of Teen Vogue's Girl Groups to Watch this year. Their performance skills are unmatched and their live vocals have been praised by Billboard, Teen Vogue (you can read their full profile HERE), NYLON, Consequence, and more.
DRIP follows the success of BABYMONSTER’s record-breaking EP [BABYMONS7ER], which was released in April and sold over 400,000 copies upon release. The EP includes BABYMONSTER’s smash hits, “BATTER UP,” “SHEESH,” and “LIKE THAT,” which was written for the band by global superstar Charlie Puth.
“SHEESH” reached No. 16 on the Billboard Global Chart (excluding US) and No. 33 on the Billboard 200 Chart, remaining on the charts for 18 and 14 consecutive weeks, respectively. Billboard called the song “pop-rap magic” and named it one of the best pop songs of the week upon release. The music video debuted at No. 1 on YouTube’s global music video ranking and is soon to reach 300M views. The music video surpassed 100M views on YouTube in just 10-days, setting a new record for the fastest debut song by a K-pop girl group to reach that milestone. The previous record was set by BABYMONSTER’s debut single, “BATTER UP,” which reached 100M views in 18 days. “BATTER UP” garnered 22.5M views in 24-hours and has since broken two YouTube streaming records - it reached 100M views in just 18 days and 200M views in 53 days. You can watch the “SHEESH” music video HERE, the “BATTER UP” music video HERE, and the music video for their latest single, “FOREVER,” HERE.
BABYMONSTER recently performed in Tokyo at Japan’s largest music festival, Summer Sonic 2024, alongside some of the biggest names on the global music scene, including Jon Batiste, MÅNESKIN, Lil Yacthy, Laufey, Tyla, and Greta Van Fleet, and at the Singapore F1 Grand Prix, where they received raves about their live performance. They’ve also made a splash in the fashion world and serve as global ambassadors for Adidas. You can see the latest campaign HERE.
