OVERVIEW

The Coordinator, Synch Clearance will be responsible for providing clearance support and successfully handling synchronization licenses originating out of North America, including television, promos, independent films and trailers, branded content, online requests, and special projects as designated.

The position will be responsible for finalizing the terms of synch licenses within their client base. This person will play an important role in handling a high volume of requests for Kobalt and its clients. The role is Los Angeles based and will report into the Senior Director, Synch Clearance.

WHAT DOES A COORDINATOR, SYNCH CLEARANCE AT KOBALT DO?

- You handle incoming synch requests and manages the end-to-end synch clearance process with prospective licensees for a wide range of media areas for North America

- You identify Kobalt’s representation and the applicable approval parties of the song(s) requested

- You effectively communicate with Kobalt clients to obtain approval for synchronization licensing requests

- You analyze prior licensing history for similar songs and shows and determine fair terms and pricing for synch usages

- You negotiate fair terms with licensees for the use of Kobalt’s repertoire

- You process high volumes of music clearances and client requests in a timely manner as well as support the team maintaining and managing licensing deals in our internal database

- You work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to troubleshoot split discrepancies and develop a strong level of knowledge for Kobalt’s internal rights management system and database

- Attending key internal and/or external meetings as deemed necessary by your supervisor(s)

- Showing a keen interest in the synch industry, monitoring any trends and strategies used by production companies to clear and license music

WHAT SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

- 1-2 years prior synch clearance experience and a working knowledge of music licensing and copyright.

- Is deadline driven, and can demonstrate an ability to handle and prioritize a large volume of work efficiently.

- Interpersonal with highly adaptable communication skills, and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external parties.

- Enthusiastic team player, who is keen to help out wherever needed.

- Able to work with minimal supervision, and possess excellent organization, written and oral communication skills.

- You are proficient in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel).

The range provided is for Los Angeles-based hires only and will be commensurate with candidate experience. Pay ranges for candidates in other locations other than Los Angeles may differ based on the cost of labor in that location. Pay range: $21.54 to $22.33 an hour.

$44,800—$46,446.40 USD
