POSITION SUMMARY
The SoundExchange (SX) International team manages relationships with collective management organizations (CMOs) around the globe. They are responsible for instructing and acting upon the agreements that SX holds globally to collect revenue for our members when their music is used internationally.
At SoundExchange as an International Operations Specialist, you will help ensure the timely and accurate processing of international royalties to performers and rights holders by undertaking high quality and complex administrative tasks and implementing data quality and exchange standards. The Specialist will communicate with our international partners to process repertoire claim metadata, track incoming and outgoing payments, and resolve conflicts and disputes.
The Specialist also owns a series of collection and distributions tasks along with analytical activities to support the International Operations team with collecting and distributing revenue from the CMO portfolio.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Undertake day to day account management of CMOs with standardized processes and delivering standardized tasks
- Work with large complex data sets and applicable business logic to make informed revenue budget business recommendations
- Undertake the required activities to accurately, timely, and successfully process the international royalties in our distribution engine
- Receive and deliver playlists, repertoire submissions, mandates, feedback files and distribution statements
- Carry out data manipulation and data activities to support revenue generation and resolution of queries from members
- Respond timely to international partner ad hoc claims, disputes, and inquiries
- Work with large complex data sets and applicable business logic to make informed revenue budget business recommendations and decisions
- Co-ordinate the international partner claims, disputes, and inquiries
- Collaborate with other teams on related activities and projects, including Technology, Finance, Legal, Rights
- Management, License Management Operations, Distribution Operations, and Customer Services
- Improve methodologies, standards and best practices around the processing and collection of international royalties
- Collaborate with the Data Mining team to define data initiatives that can maximize the flow of international royalties exchanged
- Track operational metrics related to international royalty processing
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES (KSAS)
- Understanding of key concepts related to music repertoire ownership is highly desirable
- Strong aptitude for working with computer systems – exceptional Excel skills required
- Positive relationship building skills

- Able to synthesize complex documentation for relevant facts to apply to collection strategies

- Bilingual in Spanish or another language is a plus
REQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS/ LICENSES, RELATED EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of 3 years work experience in rights or data management, music industry experience working and with repertoire or neighboring rights preferred
- An advanced education degree in computer science, data, management, or related field preferred (or related experience).
- In lieu of degree, a total number of 5 years work experience in related field will meet the education and related experience requirements listed above

- This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position (standing and/or seated) all the time.
- This position requires the ability to spend all of the time viewing computer monitors.
- The person in this position must be able to identify and distinguish between colors less than half the time.
