Today, promising Americana-roots-rock band Briscoe releases their second single, the literature-tinged, moving “Sparrows” from their debut album West of It All on September 15th via ATO Records. “Sparrows” follows the band’s first offering “The Well” which is getting a great reaction from radio stations across the board. The track was #1 Most Added at Americana in its first week out, and has been added to premiere AAA stations WFUV, WXPN, KUTX, SiriusXM’s “The Spectrum,” SiriusXM’s “North Americana” and others. Listen to “Sparrows” HERE and to “The Well” HERE. Pre-order West of It All HERE.
Briscoe is Truett Heintzelman and Philip Lupton, and they began their rise as students at University of Texas/Austin, playing house shows and backyard parties as a two-piece act before selling out venue after venue after expanding their lineup into a full band. Briscoe began growing their base organically by constant touring and engaging with fans, which led to opening stints with Noah Kahan and Ruston Kelly, as well as dates with Zach Bryan and Caamp.
Briscoe has been on the road throughout the summer, appearing at festivals alongside some of music’s biggest names at Bonnaroo, Winnetka Music Festival, FairWell Festival, Catbird Music Festival, Iron Blossum Music Festival and more. An early career highlight will take place when Briscoe opens for The Dave Matthews Band at the Gorge in Quincy, WA on September 1. The band will headline a tour this Fall as well. A full list of tour dates is below and on their website HERE.
The duo began writing West of It All while still in college in Austin and would head out of town to the Texas Hill Country for motivation and creativity. Heintzelman says. “To us, the Hill Country is one of the most beautiful places on this earth, and it became an inspiration when we were writing these songs.” Briscoe recorded the album with producer Brad Cook in North Carolina, adding drummer Matt McCaughan (Bon Iver) and multi-instrumentalist Phil Cook (Megafaun, Hiss Golden Messenger). Brad Cook plays bass on the sessions as well.
