Dalton Dover is starting the new year off with a new song via UMG Nashville/Mercury Records/Universal Music Canada with “Ain't It Easy.”
LISTEN TO “AIN’T IT EASY” HERE
“‘Ain’t It Easy’ is a song about how hard it is finding your person, but when you do find them everything that seemed hard all of a sudden seems so easy,” said Dover. “It really is a journey finding the right one, but once you do everything starts to fall into place.”
Written by Dalton Dover, Matthew McVaney, Matt McGinn and Alex Maxwell, and produced by longtime collaborator Matt McVaney (McV), the song talks about mistakes made and finding new love.
That 17th summer, I swore I thought I loved her
But we were too young to make it work
There's another girl in Athens, we tried to make it happen
For two hard years, oh man, it hurt
I had some ones that got away, a few heartbreak goodbyes, should've stopped at hello
But here with you today, there's nothing I'd change if this is how it goes
It ain't easy finding the right one
But all of the wrong ones led me to you
Baby, you're everything that I want
So it was worth all I had to get through
It's hard not to hold you, hard not to love you
Hard not to know what I got, girl, believe me
It ain't easy finding the right one
But when you find them, that rest of your life one
Ain't it easy
