Acclaimed singer/songwriter David Ramirez has released the beautiful new track “Nobody Meant To Slow You Down,” off of his forthcoming new album All The Not So Gentle Reminders (out March 21st via Blue Corn Music). New spring tour dates have just been announced, with more to come (see list below).
Following the end of a long relationship, Ramirez looks back with both regret and gratitude as the experience was an opportunity to learn and evolve. “I try to view the moments and relationships in my life as gifts and no matter what happens over time, whether they blossom or wilt, they were beautiful and special and important,” says Ramirez. “I learned and grew and discovered things about myself and the world that I never would have had these moments or people never existed. I wrote this as an apology and as gentle reminder to my past love that her life is large and will be long and fruitful despite what went down during our time together.”
The song opens with a pensive and delicate vocal followed by a lush, yet subtle string arrangement that permeates the melodic chorus. Listen to track “Nobody Meant To Slow You Down” HERE.
All The Not So Gentle Reminders is a wide-ranging musical tour-de-force with Ramirez’s remarkable voice as the constant thread spinning stories and painting poetic imagery throughout. The album is an eclectic twelve-song collection that takes the listener on a musical journey featuring richly textured arrangements, ethereal acoustic balladry, sweeping choruses and hints of cabaret.
