This Friday, Delicate Steve (aka Steve Marion), will release his new LP Delicate Steve Sings. Out August 16th on ANTI-, the album is the 6th LP from the critically-acclaimed guitarist, who was worked with artists like Miley Cyrus, Paul Simon, Amen Dunes, Tame Impala and The Black Keys, while carving out a truly unique niche as an instrumental musician over the past decade.
Delicate Steve's new LP was influenced by the classic Willie Nelson cover album Stardust. Inspired by the way Nelson took iconic songs and made them his own, Steve's new LP features a collection of original compositions and a handful of covers on which he channels the singing styles of a series of iconic singers through his guitar playing.
On the album's first single "I'll Be There," he built a composition inspired by the singing style of "Lean On Me" and "Ain't No Sunshine" singer Bill Withers, and on its follow up he covered of Donnie andamp; Joe Emeron's "Baby." Today, he is sharing a final single from the LP, a track called "Easy For You," which isn't a cover of the Elvis song of the same name but was inspired by The King.
Marion says of the single: My favorite part of “Easy For You” is the end of it. I also appreciate a sparse sounding song. So I tried to make one. Elliot Bergman co-wrote this with me. Jonathan Rado and Kosta Galanopoulos are playing bass and drums on the live track, which was recorded to tape at Rado’s. Martin Bonventre is on rhodes, Renata Zeiguer is on strings and voice. This one was done in LA, NYC, upstate NY, and Long Beach, which is a good balance.
In support of the album Delicate Steve will be embarking on a US tour.
