Today, East Forest — the acclaimed electro-acoustic artist who has previously collaborated with Laraaji, Jon Hopkins, Ram Dass, Peter Broderick, and more — releases his new solo LP, Music For The Deck Of The Titanic, on Bright Antenna Records.

Combining an austere palette of acoustic sounds — live drums, upright bass, piano — with ever-evolving vocal work from not only East Forest, but the 4 octave range of Senegalese-American singer Marieme, surrealist spoken word ramblings from Duncan Trussell (of the Midnight Gospel), and energizing beatwork via DJ ANNA, Titanic grasps for calm amid the chaos of climate apocalypse, economic turmoil, and social atomization: a soundtrack for our modern spiritual crisis.

Read more in a new piece with FLAUNT, who deemed Titanic’s 11 tracks “Electronic masterpieces… [Titanic] is an illuminating experience in music that traverses the sonic world.”

Today’s focus track, “Legacy”, meditates on the impermanence of human life. As personal image after image is enveloped by flames, today’s music video is a poignant exploration of what it means for your memories to live beyond your corporeal form. Listen/watch the video produced by Bobby Bailey (founder of Invisible Children and producer of the Kony 2012 documentary) here: https://youtu.be/eYCVO0vPJOA

Grasping for clarity amid the maelstrom of global crises and modern spiritual rot, across Titanic East Forest regains perspective on “Birds Eye”, strips down to his most simple, longing arrangements to date on “Patience”, and transforms an absurdist rant from Duncan Trussell (The Midnight Gospel) into a beautiful take on finding hope in those closest to us on “So What”. Lead single “Cosmic Dance (ft. Marieme)” is a cry for connection that was praised by Paste for “living up to its name, as the celestial vocalizations tenderly stretch the space of the digital, airy arrangements East Forest provides.”

In the live space, East Forest has built a thoughtful and inventive musical practice that merges his electro-acoustic artistry with meditation: facilitating an inner spiritual journey for each listener in what he calls Ceremony Concerts. Equal parts concert and ritual, the experience creates space for inner awareness and fosters emotional release.

East Forest will be performing special album release Ceremony Concerts on November 3 at Washington Hall in Seattle as well as November 7 in LA at Union Pico Project, hosted by Sid The Cat and featuring vocals from Senegalese-American singer Marieme.
