Breakout 15-year-old artist glaive shares his new single “eyesore” today. The track, taken from his debut EP Cypress Grove out November 20 via Interscope, debuted via the FADER, who praised glaive’s “expertly crafted emo-leaning songs” and called him “a gifted and nuanced pop writer.”
“I wrote ‘eyesore’ after a really long day and I just felt like I wanted the world to stop looking at me,” says glaive. “I locked the door to my room and stared at the ceiling for a bit then I wrote the song. I feel like everyone has felt like an eyesore or wanted people to look away at some point in their life. This feeling made me realize that time to yourself is needed in a world where we are almost constantly stimulated, you need to look after the number one bossman, yourself.”
glaive is a vocalist, songwriter and producer based in the mountains of North Carolina who began making music at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, releasing his first song on Soundcloud in April and attracting an audience with a steady stream of tracks like “astrid” this summer and “pissed” last month. He recently shared a video for his song “touché”, See Above
glaive’s handful of releases to date have landed him completely independently on the cover of Spotify’s hyperpop playlist. Pigeons andamp; Planes, in naming him one of the Best New Artists of July, said: “The stuff he’s making now feels very of-the-moment and while it’s a far cry from traditional radio pop and Hot 100 charts, it’s not hard to imagine these sounds becoming more prevalent in the mainstream in the coming years.”
Released today via Capitol Records/Universal Music Canada in digital format, the new edition features four additional tracks, including the never-before released “OK,” alongside the album’s original 11 songs
