Today, GRAMMY®-nominated singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams releases her long awaited new song “Close To You” - listen here and watch the visualizer here. On the new song, Abrams offers up a gloriously beat-driven and dance-ready anthem that speaks to the way obsession consumes us on a nearly cellular level. “Close To You” was originally written seven years ago and at the time, Gracie shared a video online that included a snippet of the song. Fans instantly fell in love with what they heard and have been begging Gracie for years to release it while also using the clip in over 56k social media posts accumulating over 437 million views.
“After seven years of sitting with the ‘Close To You’ demo, it finally felt right to rework and include on this album,” Abrams reveals. “I’m really grateful for the encouragement from everyone online who let me know they still want to hear song after all this time—it makes me want to dance with them, and I can’t wait till we get to do that.”
Fans will get the chance to dance with Gracie when she performs the new song on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on the show’s outdoor stage on Thursday, June 20, on the eve of the release of her sophomore album, The Secret of Us.
The Secret of Us will be released on June 21 and includes lead single, “Risk,” which Abrams released last month along with the official video - watch here. “Risk” amassed an impressive 1 million streams on Spotify in less than 10 hours after the release and currently has 33 million streams to date. The Secret of Us brings a bold new effervescence to her songwriting and marks the first time Gracie took a hands-on role in the production process. The album was co-produced by her friend and frequent collaborator Aaron Dessner.
Earlier this week, Gracie announced she would be embarking on The Secret of Us Tour, which kicks off September 5 in Portland, OR. The tour will hit cities across the US including Los Angeles, New York, Nashville, Chicago and more. Due to incredibly popular demand, second and third shows have been added in New York and Los Angeles, while a second show has been added in Denver as well. Role Model will join Abrams as direct support on tour. See below for full routing. Tickets go on sale today at 10am local time.
