GRAMMY® Award-winning history-making superstar Alessia Cara shares a new single and video for “(Isn’t It) Obvious” heralding the arrival of her anxiously awaited fourth full-length album, Love andamp; Hyperbole, on February 14, 2025. The record showcases her evolution as a powerhouse vocalist, empathetic songwriter, and force of nature coupled with the artistic visual which narrates the emotional impact of the song.
Graced with a sublime guitar solo from Mayer, “(Isn’t It) Obvious” offers up a sweetly reassuring portrait of unconditional love (from the first verse: “Fears are only constellations/Only glowing if we make them”). “If ‘Dead Man’ is about emotional distance, then ‘(Isn’t It) Obvious’ is about being physically apart from someone but reminding them how much you love them,” says Alessia. “As I was coming up with the lyrics I was pulling a lot of inspiration from singer/songwriters like John Mayer, so it’s mind-blowing to me that he ended up actually playing on the song.”
It lands in the wake of her first release from this project “Dead Man.” People spoke to her exclusively about this chapter, going on to note, “she has a few new surroundings to thank for where she’s headed on her soon-to come fourth album.” CLASH fittingly christened it “a haunted pop statement,” and Billboard touted the single, applauding how it “kicks off a new era with some vibrant jazz-pop, complete with mournful trumpet blasts, that suits her voice and newfound perspective to a tee.”
Thus far, Alessia Cara has generated billions of streams, earned dozens of gold and multiplatinum certifications around the world, and notably made history as “the first Canadian to win ‘Best New Artist’ at the GRAMMY® Awards.” At the same time, she has sold out tours on multiple continents and emerged as the rare force equally comfortable on a track with Logic and Khalid or Juanes, Bastille, Major Lazer, and The Warning.
It's just the beginning though. Welcome to her next chapter and get ready for Love andamp; Hyperbole!
