Indie-folk-rock artist Karin Ann has once again collaborated with Imogen Heap, unveiling the second remix from her debut album, through the telescope, which was released in May. While Imogen Heap produced the remix, her distinctive vocals are actually AI-generated, using a model developed in-house with her team. This marks the second release featuring Imogen's AI voice companion, ai.mogen. Heap's reimagining of "i don't believe in God" offers an intricate tapestry of glitchy beats, haunting vocal manipulations, and emotionally resonant soundscapes, a hallmark of Heap's signature production style.

The creative spark between Karin Ann and Imogen Heap first ignited on the set of the music video for Karin Ann’s original version of "i don't believe in God." Imogen's cameo appearance in the video hinted at a deeper connection between the two artists. This initial collaboration led to Imogen remixing not only "i don't believe in God" but also Karin Ann's earlier single, "false gold."
"Collaborating with Imogen Heap again has been such a cool experience. I'm usually super picky about who I work with because I'm very particular about my sound. But Imogen has this incredible ability to capture the essence of a song and elevate it to another level. Her remix of 'i don't believe in god' is both haunting and beautiful, and it perfectly complements the raw emotion of the original.” — Karin Ann
“I’m forever working on so many projects and songs that are long term… all about the journey, or something like that … so it was deeply satisfying and freeing to work on someone else’s music for a change and then have it be released soon after. I see this remix as a kind of letting go and having fun.” — Imogen Heap
Produced in collaboration with Benjamin Lazar Davis and Will Graefe of Okkervil River, through the telescope has showcased Karin Ann's versatility as she seguesfrom folk and buzzy rock to gothic disco and a wide range of musical inspirations including Mazzy Star, Stevie Nicks and Hozier. Her album release has taken the music world by storm, landing her on the cover of NME Magazine and earning her coveted recognition on Grammy.com’s Global Spin series. The album has garnered widespread acclaim from publications including NME, The Line of Best Fit, and securing a place on Ones to Watch’s #nowwatching playlist.
Karin Ann's music delves into themes of gender equality, mental health, and human rights, exploring the inner struggles of youth, including topics like young love, toxic relationships, and insecurities. She also touches on her experience growing up as a queer woman in Slovakia. Initially drawn to the arts as a coping mechanism for her ADHD, Karin pursued art and graphic design until a hand injury forced her to withdraw from art school. Inspired by Grace VanderWaal, she found solace in songwriting on her ukulele, leading her to explore music as a form of expression.
Karin Ann made her SXSW debut in March and was featured at the top of NME's 10 essential new acts you need to see at SXSW who refers to her new album as “stunningly lo-fi balladry.” She also made her NY Fashion Week debut in February with showcases at César Galindo and Frederick Anderson. She will play a series of SoFar Sounds shows in select U.S. cities this Spring.
Karin Ann has made a mark in the alt-pop scene since starting her musical journey at age 14, with Noctis Mag describing her as having the unique ability to craft “a lyrically cinematic experience.” Recognized as the "Discovery of the Year" at the Czech Republic Music Awards, Karin Ann has also been featured on a Times Square billboard as part of Spotify’s EQUAL Music Program and in 2021, she won Best Music Video at the Munich Music Awards. She has played shows with LP (Laura Pergolizzi), Imagine Dragons, Alfie Templeman, and My Chemical Romance, garnered support from BBC Radio 1 (UK) and has been featured in Vogue, Vanity Fair, Bild, and Elle.
