Lawrence, the NYC soul-pop band fronted by siblings Gracie and Clyde Lawrence, has released an “acoustic-ish” version of two songs from their latest studio album Family Business: “Whatcha Want (acoustic-ish)”, and “Guy I Used To Be (acoustic-ish)”. The tracks, released last week, are a part of the album “acoustic-ish: an album-ish” which continues their tradition of “acoustic-ish” renditions of their songs. They are recorded and filmed in a single take with an extended cast of friends and family joining the core 8-piece band.

Lawrence has had a tremendous year. The current single from Family Business, “Whatcha Want,” is #37 on the Top 40 chart, up from #39 last week. This is Lawrence’s second time on the Top 40, following the success of their single “Don’t Lose Sight” in 2021.

Since the release of Family Business in June (on Jon Bellion’s Beautiful Mind Records), they’ve performed on the season six premiere of The Kelly Clarkson Show, with Clarkson herself saying: “This is gonna be one of my favorite performances ever on the show.” Watch the full performance HERE. They’ve also performed on CBS SaturdayThe TODAY Show, and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon with special guest Questlove on drums.

After 60 shows opening for Jonas Brothers on their stadium/arena tour last year, and joining The Rolling Stones at Metlife Stadium New Jersey in May, Lawrence finally launched their Family Business headline tour in September. Their biggest run to date, it has included a sold out hometown show at Radio City Music Hall, at The Wiltern in LA, and continues through November 2. They’ve just recently announced Australia, UK and Europe dates for next year, and Clyde and Gracie will host a special evening of music at City Winery in NYC on New Years Eve: https://lawrencetheband.com/tour

Family Business is a vibrant showcase of Lawrence's signature approach to pop music, reflecting the influences of the soul-funk legends of the '70s and '80s that they grew up listening to, including Stevie Wonder, Earth, Wind andamp; Fire, Randy Newman, Michael Jackson, and Huey Lewis. The album is packed with clever songwriting and exceptional musicianship, drawing a growing list of collaborators, including Jacob Collier, Meghan Trainor, Lake Street Dive, and several members of the Colbert Late Show Band including Jon Lampley and Negah Santos.

Singer/songwriter/producer Gracie Lawrence, who co-fronts the band with brother Clyde - is also an accomplished actress - and will appear as a series regular in the upcoming season of Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble’s The Sex Lives of College Girls on MAX, portraying the character Kacey.

Clyde and Gracie Lawrence are a New York City-raised sibling duo that have been writing songs and playing together since early childhood. What started out as a duo turned into an eight-piece band of musician friends from childhood and college. Lawrence has reached remarkable heights, including performances on Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Today Show and NBC’s Last Call with Carson Daly. They’ve also played major festivals including Coachella, Bonnaroo, Outside Lands, Firefly, Okeechobee, Hangout, Summerfest and more.

Members of the band have also found ways to advocate for artists in the music industry, shining a light on some key aspects of the live music business that can make it difficult for musicians to make a living. Clyde, alongside band member Jordan Cohen, made international headlines when they testified before a Senate hearing on the ticketing industry in January of 2023, following Clyde’s Op-Ed on the subject that was published in the New York Times.
