Lyrical visionary Mae Estes addresses a sensitive and often unspoken issue with her compelling new track “Good Ol’ Boys” out TODAY via Big Machine Records. “Good Ol’ Boys” takes aim at the wolves in sheep’s clothing and joins the ranks of songs like Kira Isabella’s “Quarterback” and Martina McBride’s “Independence Day,” by shining a light on a topic that happens behind closed doors, and often stays there. In celebration of the song’s release, Estes will perform at the Music City Grand Prix Freedom Friday event at 8:30pm in downtown Nashville and again tomorrow (Saturday, September 14) at 12:20pm at the Nashville Superspeedway.

“There is all kinds of heartbreak in life and Country music, but nothing hits harder than the heartbreak that comes from someone you never expected to hurt you” explains Estes. “I was raised in a small town in the south, surrounded by honest, hardworking, godly, well-mannered men that we lovingly called ‘good ol’ boys.’ This important song shares the persecutive of a heartbroken woman, forever changed by the betrayal of a man she thought she could trust. I have such respect and admiration for the ‘three chords and the truth’ sentiment of traditional Country music and tried my best to channel that when writing this unapologetic story.”

The powerful ballad, which consistently moves audiences to tears during live performances, is more than just a song—it’s a call to healing, empowerment, and awareness. It serves as a reminder that the truth can emerge from the shadows and be brought to the daylight for all to see. Estes’ beautifully somber vocals and storytelling capabilities are a testament to her artistic range and cement her as an artist ready to make a stand. The music video for the track will make its world premiere on CMT on September 17.

“Good Ol’ Boys” follows the recent releases of the AIMP 2024 Rising Songwriter-Artist of the Year winner’s “High And Lonesome,” preacher’s daughter-turned-murderer heater “Gettin’ Back Up To Heaven” and the fast-paced, barnburner “What I Shoulda Done.” Each track highlights Estes’ dedication to traditional Country music and her remarkable songwriting expertise. She remains as dynamic as ever in the songwriting world, continuously crafting songs that span a wide range of thoughts and experiences.

In addition to the Music City Grand Prix, Estes will be performing at Americana Fest next week. She is also going to be out on select dates with Kimberly Perry, will open for Lainey Wilson at this year’s NFR and was recently announced as part of the Stagecoach 2025 lineup.
