Today, Nashville’s indie singer/songwriter/poet/painter Amelia White releases the troubadour’s lament “Get to the Show” from her upcoming album Love I Swore (out February 23rd on 31 Tigers). “Get to the Show” originated when White was stuck in the Columbus Ohio airport, trying to get to the next gig. When White sings “All I wanna do is get up there and sing. I don’t wanna hear about ice on the wing,” she echoes the trials of the working artist. And while “Get to the Show” is a tongue-in-cheek look at the musician’s life, Love I Swore honestly showcases the challenges that come with the profession and the deeper toll it can take. White shares, “There’s that theme of keeping love going when you’re having to re-meet each other every time I return home. I have this great idea, halfway houses where partners can come over and visit us traveling musicians in there as we get reacquainted with real life.”

Love I Swore was produced by the illustrious Kim Richey, who also adds backing vocals and percussion to the album. White’s rich lyrics are accentuated by Richey’s forte in vocal harmonies and extensive knowledge of song structures. The partnership has created an appealing collection of 11 songs featuring sounds of rock and roll, folk, alt-country and catchy pop.

With the renowned Roger Nichols (engineer) and Grammy-winning Richard Todd (mastering), the album was recorded at Nichols’ studio, Bell Tone Recording in Nashville. Other musicians augmenting White and Richey include Doug Lancio on guitar, Mark Pisapia on drums and Billy Harvey on bass, with Amelia cutting loose on vocals and guitars.

White made her way to her home of East Nashville after years of guitar-slinging in Boston and Seattle. A fixture at the legendary Family Wash, she established herself as “The Queen of the East Nashville underground” (No Depression). Her reputation as a celebrated songwriter spread throughout the U.S. and Europe. Her 2019 release Rhythm of The Rain earned White press accolades, chart success and led to bigger shows and events. Love I Swore continues to cement White’s spot as one of America’s premiere singer/songwriters.
