Multi-BRIT and Mercury-nominated singer-songwriter Olivia Dean returns with the release of her brand new song 'Touching Toes', out via Capitol Records/Universal Music Canada.
Teased throughout her UK and European tours, as well as at her debut UK headline festival performance at Love Supreme this summer, 'Touching Toes' follows Olivia's recently released track 'Time' - the first track release since her critically acclaimed debut album Messy. Her second release of the year, this track further showcases Olivia's effortless versatility and ability to navigate through genres with ease.
A testament to Dean's ability to capture the essence of love and connection in her music, 'Touching Toes' is an ever-relatable track about the early stages of romantic relationships. It features poignant lyrics such as "They say your body knows when it's really something, when we're touching toes" and "That's the warmth of loving, and he flows and flows like a river in my mind," demonstrating Dean's talent for crafting intimate and relatable narratives.
Opening with a soft acoustic guitar that underpins the entire track, 'Touching Toes' is a mellow and ethereal offering featuring atmospheric backing vocals. Produced by frequent collaborator Zach Nahome (PinkPantheress, Maverick Sabre, Biig Piig), the song marks a return to Olivia's more soulful, stripped back melodies and beautifully showcases the synergy between Dean's songwriting and Nahome's nuanced production style - this partnership continues to yield powerful musical results, and exemplifies her ability to blend heartfelt lyrics with soulful vocals.
On the new release, Dean says: "Touching Toes is a delicate love-song about letting someone into your space and the feeling of the flip switching in your head when you know it’s love. It’s an intimate moment I wanted to share as a bookmark to the end of this chapter of music from me."
Building on a monumental year, Olivia Dean's artistry has been recognised with three BRIT Awards nominations and a Mercury Prize nomination. She has graced the covers of POP Magazine, The Evening Standard, and Vogue Singapore, and was featured in British Vogue's July issue. Dean made her debut performance at Coachella Festival, delivered standout performances at Radio 1's Big Weekend, took to the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury, and performed at Japan's Summer Sonic. Most notably, she achieved a significant milestone by securing her first festival headline slot at Love Supreme Festival, cementing her status as one of the UK's most promising musical talents.
With over 5.3M+ monthly listeners on Spotify, Olivia's sound and undeniable talent have established her as one of the UK's standout artists. 'Touching Toes' further showcases her musical aptitude and offers a preview of more exciting releases to come.
