The official cast recording of The Avett Brothers’ new Broadway musical Swept Away, named a “spectacular” New York Times Critic’s Pick upon opening on November 19, has been announced today and is set for release on February 7, 2025 via Joy Machine Records. Swept Away (Original Broadway Cast Recording) features music and lyrics by The Avett Brothers and is produced by Brian Usifer, Chris Miller, Will Van Dyke and Madison Wells Live.

A "spellbinding” (The Washington Post) tale of survival and brotherhood, Swept Awayincorporates songs from The Avett Brothers’ 2004 album, Mignonette, and others in their catalogue, plus one new song - “Lord Lay Your Hand on My Shoulder” -  written by Seth Avett for the production. See below for the full tracklist.

The principal cast members and vocalists on the cast album, reprising their roles from the show’s previous sold-out and critically acclaimed runs at Berkeley Repertory in 2022 and Washington DC’s Arena Stage in 2023, include Tony Award winner John Gallagher Jr.(Spring Awakening), who delivers “a fierce star turn” (The Wall Street Journal), the “magnificent” (The Wrap) two-time Tony Award nominee Stark Sands (Kinky Boots), Adrian Blake Enscoe (Apple TV+’s Dickinson) deemed a “revelation” (Deadline), and Wayne Duvall (1984) who “gives a stellar performance” (EW).

The anticipated Broadway debut of Swept Away is the latest in a highlight-filled year for The Avett Brothers. In May, they released their first new album in five years, The Avett Brothers - now a Grammy nominee for Best Recording Package - followed by an extensive US tour and appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, CBS Saturday Morning, NPR's All Things Considered, and more. The Avett Brothers were recently presented with The North Carolina Award - their home state’s highest honor - by Gov. Roy Cooper.
