Today, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Victoria Canal new single “California Sober” via Parlophone Records. “California Sober” follows the fun flirty innocence of recent single “June Baby,” and as day turns to night, the song’s Cuban-inflected sizzle sees things heat up into a heated fog of sensual queer liberation. A dizzying swell of exotic strings transport us to a sweaty house party, dancing body-to-body. “I’m hopped up on the feeling of romance, and I'm more in my body than I've ever been,” Canal says.

“‘California Sober’ is the sexual awakening moment,” says Canal. “With ‘June Baby’ we experienced the naïveté of a first-time, heteronormative love…this tune is the opening up to the beauty of queer exploration. It’s also my deeply shameless pop banger.”

The release of “California Sober” and “June Baby” mark a new chapter of releases for Canal, embracing a confident, bolder and wider-ranging musicality with more expected to follow. “June Baby” was written across London and LA with The 1975’s Ross MacDonald, complete with production flourishes by bandmate George Daniel, complete with a sweet music video filmed in Barcelona. Following her second IVOR win earlier this Summer and a surprise appearance with Coldplay during their Glastonbury Festival headline performance, Canal announced a worldwide headline tour, spanning the UK, Europe and North America. The “Just What I Needed” tour kicks off September 16 in Milwaukee, WI, for a three week run, before heading overseas for performances in Barcelona, Lisbon, Amsterdam, Brussels, Berlin, Paris, London and more.
