Chalk it up to another victim of government inaction in supporting the businesses that support it

The Firehouse Saloon, a long-time staple of the Houston Country, Americana, Roots scene has fallen victim to the Covid pandemic. Another in a long list of venue closures due to local, state and federal government's inability to support the businesses that pay their salaries and for their pet projects, The Firehouse announced it's immediate closure on it's facebook page this afternoon.

For 28 years now, the Firehouse Saloon has been instrumental in helping to build the careers of some of the biggest names in Country, Roots, Red Dirt, Americana, Rock and Traditional music with artists like Miranda Lambert, Toby Keith, Blake Shelton, Randy Rogers, Billy Bob Thornton, Keith Harkin, Roger Creager, and literally thousands more having cut their teeth on it's cozy wooden stage. As a venue, the Firehouse was as comfortable to attend for a table-seated folk/americana show as it was for a rowdy boot-stompin Texas country show. The staff was always incredibly hospitable and the ticket prices reasonable. The beers were as cold as you expected them to be and the patrons as warm.

The venue owners noted that the property development company has plans for the location, which is prime real estate just off the 59 freeway in Houston. We're guessing it will be torn down and turned into condos. We'll wait and see.
