The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York has announced that Stefanie May is stepping into her role as Marketing Director of the famed “original rock palace”. A passionate live music marketer and community builder, she returns to The Cap where she previously served as Marketing Coordinator, Manager Manager, and ultimately Marketing Director from 2014 to 2022. Stefanie joins in this exciting new chapter for the venue alongside Alyssa Kitchen, the venue’s first-ever female General Manager (Pollstar Impact: NextGen). Together, they’re creating an inspiring powerhouse of women leading the charge in the live venue space.
In her previous roles she played a key role in shaping the venue’s brand and digital presence, managing social media and marketing for LOCKN’ Festival (2016-2022) and volunteering on the Social Media Team for the National Independent Venue Association (NIVA) to help pass the Save Our Stages Act in December 2020.
Together with Cap fan and Volunteer Founder Renee Pfefer, Stefanie co-founded The Cap Cares Volunteer Rewards Program in 2021. Since its launch, #TheCapCares has mobilized over 720 volunteers, contributing more than 1,660 hours of service across 52 events, benefiting 20 different local nonprofits. Rooted in The Capitol Theatre’s mission of bringing people together, the program has strengthened the local music community through service, including food, toy, and clothing drives, as well as fundraising campaigns.
With over a decade of experience in the music industry, Stefanie has also worked for Brooklyn Made Presents and Fairfield Theatre Company, but in 2025, she found her way back home to The Capitol Theatre to work for Peter Shapiro and Dayglo Presents.
Stefanie May shares, "Peter has been an incredible mentor to me over the years. His passion for live music, community, the fan experience, and creating unforgettable moments for both artists and audiences is truly admirable. I’ve learned so much from his leadership, and I’m beyond excited to be back at The Cap, working alongside a team that shares the same dedication to live music. With Alyssa Kitchen as General Manager, I know we’re creating an environment where both fans and artists feel at home, making every show a truly special experience."
Peter Shapiro shares “Stef May has the heart and soul of The Capitol Theatre within her, so we are particularly thrilled to have her back home. The Cap is in very good hands as we head towards our 100th Anniversary year in 2026!”
Stefanie is also incredibly proud of The Cap’s Squirrel Squad street team and Cap Ambassadors, who help spread the love for live music and make every show an unforgettable experience for both fans and artists.
