For more than 150 years, the Pump House has stood heavy and solid in its place in the heart of Copenhagen, with a history that stretches back to 1856. Originally, the house served as a water supply for Copenhagen and pumped water from Søndermarken's underground cisterns to the city's upper floors. In 1987, the Pump House underwent its first major renovation, when the Salt Warehouse had to close to make way for the construction of the Tycho Brahe Planetarium, and financial compensation made it possible to convert the old Pump House into a concert venue.
