Yep, The Scout Bar is a rock club. They don't book pop, they don't book the mellow indie stuff, folk, Americana, Acoustic or your favorite jam band. They book Rock and all of it's elements. Metal, Hardcore, Death Metal, Black Metal, Nu-Metal, Alternative Rock, Punk, Grind, ok, maybe a little hip-hop but not much, definitely they Juggalo stuff, Tribute bands etc. They all play at the Scout Bar in the waterside town of Webster, about 30 minutes south of Downtown Houston. The Scout Bar philosophy is that it's just as important to laugh and have a good time (i.e. The Spazmatics or Metal Shop) as it is to seriously rock out. Check out the newly remodeled pub featuring sports on the projection screens, tons of a flat screen tv's and a very respectable craft beer selection. Visit www.scoutbar.com for a complete schedule of bands and special events. The age limit for most events is 18 and up. Some events are 21 and up. Almost all national act shows are all ages.
The Scout Bar is owned and run by Thomas Wilson, singer of seminal Houston Industrial band "The Hunger". He's very "artist first" oriented in his treatment of the performers and it shows as the Scout Bar has developed a strong sense of loyalty from locals and touring bands alike. It's a relatively large room and they will sometimes take a chance on lesser known bands, especially if those bands hook up with some really well drawing local bands. While most venues in Houston have shut down for the moment, the Scout Bar has actually stayed open throughout the Coronavirus pandemic by booking mostly local and regional bands, tribute bands etc. and adhering to cleanliness and social distancing restrictions.
If you rock and you're looking for a fun Houston area show, check out the Scout Bar. It's not a bad place to spend a few hours and a few bucks.
