Arrival Artists, the agency formed tby former Paradigm and Billions Corp agents during the peak of the 2020 agent layoffs due to Covid-19 has announced the signing of one of our absolute favorites around the MusicBizHub office, the inimitable Sufjan Stevens. In a post to Instagram on the Arrival Artists page, responsible agent Ali Hedrick noted, “I remember popping on Sufjan Steven’s music and fumbling the phone trying to dial the head of Asthmatic Kitty to convince them to sign with me. I must have dialed that number wrong three different times before finally connecting. I was that blown away, and I couldn’t dial his number fast enough. Sufjan is a renaissance man and there aren’t many out there like him.”
For the uninitiated, Sujan is one of those artists that expertly, and seemingly effortlessly, does what every musical artist attempts, but few are able to accomplish. He finds a way, through expert songcrafting, to evoke true, honest-to-God emotions and feelings that get inside the listeners head and somehow, become a part of the listeners consciousness.
Sufjan has released eight solo studio albums and multiple collaborative albums with other artists. Stevens has received Academy Award and Grammy Award nominations.

His debut album, A Sun Came, was released in 1999 on the Asthmatic Kitty label, which he co-founded with his stepfather. He received wide recognition for his 2005 album Illinois, which hit number one on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart, and for the single "Chicago" from that album. Stevens later contributed to the soundtrack of the coming-of-age romantic drama film Call Me by Your Name (2017). He received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song and a Grammy Award nomination for Best Song Written for Visual Media for the soundtrack's lead single, "Mystery of Love".

Stevens has released albums of varying styles, from the electronica of Enjoy Your Rabbit and the lo-fi folk of Seven Swans to the symphonic instrumentation of Illinois and Christmas-themed Songs for Christmas. He employs various instruments, often playing many of them himself on the same recording. Stevens' music is also known for exploring various themes, particularly religion and spirituality. Stevens' eighth studio album, The Ascension, was released in 2020.

The news of the Sufjan Stevens signing, comes only a week after the agency announced the signing of The New Mastersounds. Said agent John Bongiorno via Instagram regarding that signing, "I love The New Mastersounds. Some of the finest people and sweetest gentlemen you'd ever want to run into. I have no shortage of guitar gods on my roster, and Eddie Roberts is definitely among them. I am so fortunate to have convinced Eddie to give me a shot over drinks across from The Brooklyn Bowl some night back in 2014. Whenever they are on the calendar to play NY, I get excited about the idea of going and seeing good friends and enjoying high quality entertainment."
Sufjan and The New Mastersounds are in incredible company alongside the agencies other artists which include the likes of Andrew Bird, Archers of Loaf, Carseat Headrest, Dopapod, Diet Cig, Godspeed You!
