Today, emotionally driven alternative rock band Brave New World premiere their new single and music video for “Sour Honey.” This single is an examination of the politics and gatekeeping of communities of unsigned musicians, and what it’s like to navigate this landscape. Vocalist Christopher Eubanks elaborates: “‘Sour Honey’ is about the struggle of being in a band in a small scene trying to break into bigger markets. It’s about losing yourself in that process and how there are a lot of repercussions and loss that can come with the decision to focus so heavily on your passions. The video explores that theme.” Stream the single and video exclusively today on The Noise.
Brave New World bring to the forefront the frustration and struggles that so many newer, developing bands face these days, especially in a world where rock or heavy music of any kind is often shelved, ignored or passed over for the latest bedroom pop, indie-pop or hip-hop flavor of the day. There's a 30 Seconds to Mars style urgency in the vocals here with guitar tones reminiscent of the likes of fellow floridians like Further Seems Forever and Anberlin. If emotive radio rock were again all the rage, I could see Brave New World leading the pack. Let's hope, for the sake of all things heavy, the music scene circles back to a world where talent is key and true emotion inducing sounds an indicator of what cream will rise to the top.
